Miller-Meeks Delivers Historic Tax Relief for Working Families on Tax Day
WASHINGTON, D.C. – On Tax Day, Congresswoman Mariannette Miller-Meeks (IA-01) is highlighting the impact of the Working Families Tax Cuts, delivering the largest tax relief for working and middle-class Americans in U.S. history.
After years of rising costs, the legislation provides meaningful, long-term relief to families, workers, seniors, farmers, and small businesses—ensuring Americans keep more of their hard-earned money. Every Democrat in Congress voted against the measure.
“After four years of record-high inflation under the Biden Administration, where everything from housing to healthcare became more expensive, American families needed real relief,” said Congresswoman Miller-Meeks. “That’s exactly what the Working Families Tax Cuts deliver—the largest tax cut in American history, putting thousands of dollars back into the pockets of working families. This law reduces taxes on tips and overtime, provides relief for seniors on Social Security, doubles the Child Tax Credit, and lowers the burden on small businesses, farmers, and manufacturers, while also protecting taxpayer dollars by ensuring benefits go to those here legally. This is about rewarding hard work, restoring opportunity, and helping families get ahead again, and I was proud to deliver it.”
The Working Families Tax Cuts include:
- Reduced taxes on tips and overtime, benefiting tens of millions of workers
- Tax relief for seniors, including a new Social Security deduction
- A doubled Child Tax Credit to support working families
- A significantly increased standard deduction for the vast majority of taxpayers
- Permanent 20% small business deduction to support job creators
- Pro-growth policies supporting American manufacturing and energy production
- Targeted support for farmers and rural communities
- $1,000 investment accounts for newborns to build long-term financial security
- Protections for taxpayer dollars by removing illegal immigrants from Medicaid and SNAP eligibility
With Tax Day here, Americans across the country are already seeing the results, larger refunds, bigger paychecks, and greater financial security.
