Miller-Meeks Hosts Telephone Town Hall with Over 8,000 Iowans

March 27, 2026

WASHINGTON, D.C. - Last night, Congresswoman Mariannette Miller-Meeks (IA-01) hosted a telephone town hall, connecting with more than 8,000 Iowans for a wide-ranging discussion on the ongoing DHS shutdown, government fraud, health care, and other key issues impacting families across Iowa.

"I’m always grateful for the opportunity to hear directly from Iowans, answer their questions, and provide updates on the work I’m doing on their behalf in Congress," said Miller-Meeks. "As a physician, 24-year Army veteran, mother, and now grandmother, I’m fighting every day to protect your hard-earned tax dollars, eliminate waste, fraud, and abuse, strengthen government accountability, and lower health care costs for ALL Americans."

Miller-Meeks also addressed the ongoing DHS shutdown, emphasizing the need to fund national security operations and ensure that the men and women serving on the front lines, including TSA agents and other personnel, are supported and paid. She reiterated her commitment to restoring fiscal responsibility, strengthening oversight, and advancing commonsense policies that deliver results for Iowa families.
