Miller-Meeks Leads Working Families Tax Cuts Roundtable in Washington County

April 2, 2026

WASHINGTON, IA — On Thursday, Congresswoman Mariannette Miller-Meeks (IA-01) led a roundtable discussion alongside Americans for Prosperity (AFP), Americans for Tax Reform, Job Creators Network, Brenneman Pork, and State Rep. Heather Hora in Washington County focused on how the Working Families Tax Cuts (WFTC) are supporting Iowa businesses, strengthening local economies, and expanding opportunities for workers and their families.

Held at Brenneman Pork, the roundtable brought together local employers, community leaders, and stakeholders to discuss how the WFTC is creating a more competitive and predictable environment for businesses to invest, hire, and grow. Participants shared how policies like tax relief on tips and overtime, along with broader tax reductions for working families, are helping businesses attract and retain talent while increasing take-home pay for employees.

"At today’s roundtable, I heard directly from Iowa employers about how the Working Families Tax Cuts are giving them the certainty and flexibility they need to invest, grow, and create jobs," said Miller-Meeks. "When we cut taxes and provide a stable, pro-growth environment, businesses can expand, workers take home more pay, and communities across Iowa are stronger for it."

Local employers emphasized that a stable, pro-growth tax structure is giving them the confidence to expand operations, reinvest in their workforce, and plan for the future in their communities.

Miller-Meeks reaffirmed her commitment to advancing policies that promote business growth, support job creation, and ensure Iowa remains a place where employers and workers can succeed together.
