Miller-Meeks to Attend Dignified Transfer Honoring Fallen Iowa Soldiers
WASHINGTON, D.C. — Congresswoman Mariannette Miller-Meeks announced today that she will attend the dignified transfer honoring two fallen Iowa soldiers who were killed while serving overseas.
The dignified transfer will honor Maj. Jeffrey R. O’Brien of Indianola, Sgt. Declan J. Coady of West Des Moines, and four other U.S. service members killed by Iranian strikes in Kuwait. Their remains will be returned to the United States in a ceremony recognizing their sacrifice and service to the nation.
Rep. Miller-Meeks will attend the transfer to pay tribute to the fallen soldiers and stand alongside their families, fellow service members, and the Iowa community in honoring their memory.
Statement from Rep. Mariannette Miller-Meeks:
“Maj. Jeffrey O’Brien and Sgt. Declan Coady were proud sons of Iowa who answered the call to serve our nation. Their courage, sacrifice, and dedication to protecting the freedoms we cherish will never be forgotten.
It is a solemn honor to attend this dignified transfer and stand with their families, their fellow soldiers, and all who mourn their loss. As a 24-year Army veteran, I know the weight of this moment and the profound sacrifice these heroes made in service to our country.
Curt and I continue to keep their loved ones, their fellow soldiers, and all those who serve in our prayers.”
