Miller-Meeks Joins Lee County Town Hall

August 25, 2025

FORT MADISON, IA – U.S. Representative Mariannette Miller-Meeks (IA-01) joined Americans for Prosperity for a town hall in Lee County, where she answered questions and heard directly from constituents on the issues that matter most to them.

"I’m always grateful for the opportunity to hear directly from Iowans, answer their questions, and provide updates on the issues that matter most," said Miller-Meeks. "From fighting inflation and securing our border to cutting taxes and bringing manufacturing back to America, Iowans know I’m in Congress to fight for them. Conversations like the one in Lee County reaffirm just how engaged and passionate people are about the future of our country, and I’ll keep working every day to deliver on their priorities."

During the discussion, Miller-Meeks also highlighted the historic wins of the One Big Beautiful Bill: the largest tax cut for working- and middle-class Iowans ever. She noted provisions such as permanent relief from the death tax for family farmers, a $6,000 tax deduction for seniors that effectively ends taxes on Social Security for most retirees, the doubling of the Child Tax Credit, permanent tax relief for small businesses, and 100% immediate expensing for manufacturers.

Background:

Since the start of the August work period, Rep. Miller-Meeks has visited all 20 counties in Iowa’s First District, holding meetings with local leaders, small businesses, farmers, and community organizations. She has also hosted two telephone town halls in 2025, with one drawing over 12,000 participants and another connecting with more than 6,300.

Last week, Miller-Meeks concluded her Made in America Manufacturing Tour, meeting with employees at Cemen Tech, Vermeer, and SSAB, and holding a manufacturing town hall in Muscatine County with over 60 workers. At that event, she answered questions on tax relief for overtime pay, manufacturing and trade policy, energy, and workforce development.
