Miller-Meeks Votes to Fund Government, End Reckless Biden-Pelosi Era Spending

February 3, 2026

WASHINGTON, D.C. — Today, Congresswoman Mariannette Miller-Meeks (IA-01) voted to pass the remaining appropriations bills, reopening the federal government and funding it under regular order for the first time in years. With President Trump’s signature, Republicans have now completed 11 of the 12 annual appropriations bills, ending the Biden-Pelosi era of reckless spending, massive omnibus packages, and endless continuing resolutions.

“House Republicans kept the promise we made to the American people,” Said Miller-Meeks. “For too long, Washington has relied on last-minute deals and trillion-dollar spending sprees that ballooned the debt and ignored fiscal responsibility. Today we changed that. We reopened the government and funded it the right way, under regular order, with transparency and discipline. I fought hard to secure more than $19 million in Community Project Funding for roads, water systems, workforce programs, and infrastructure right here in Southeast Iowa. At the same time, three of my bipartisan health care bills are now law, improving care for kids and giving seniors better access to life-saving cancer screenings. This is Iowa First leadership: responsible budgeting, real results for our communities, and no more excuses for wasteful Washington spending.”

Miller-Meeks Bills Signed Into Law:

  • Accelerating Kids’ Access to Care Act - Allows states to streamline the process for out-of-state pediatric care providers to enroll in another state’s Medicaid program, while also safeguarding important program integrity processes. The legislation enables smooth coordination across state lines by clarifying the process by which state Medicaid programs can cover this care regardless of where the child lives and where their care is received.
  • Nancy Gardner Sewell Medicare Multi-Cancer Early Detection Screening Coverage Act - Establishes Medicare coverage for Multi-Cancer Early Detection (MCED) screening tests, ensuring seniors will soon have access to cutting-edge diagnostics that can identify multiple cancers from a single test.
  • Dr. Lorna Breen Health Care Provider Protection Reauthorization Act - Would prevent burnout among healthcare providers and improve workforce retention by authorizing funding for mental health and well-being programs in the healthcare industry.

Community Project Funding Secured by Miller-Meeks:
