Miller-Meeks Welcomes Treasury Secretary Bessent to Iowa for Vermeer Tour

PELLA, IOWA — Congresswoman Mariannette Miller-Meeks (IA-01) welcomed U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent to Iowa's First District for a tour of Vermeer, one of the district's premier manufacturers, to see Iowa manufacturing firsthand.

During the visit, Secretary Bessent toured Vermeer's facility and heard directly from workers about how recent tax relief is supporting expansion and job growth at the company.

The Working Families Tax Cuts made permanent several pro-manufacturing provisions that are fueling investment across the country, including 100% bonus depreciation, allowing manufacturers to immediately deduct the full cost of new equipment and machinery; full expensing for the construction of new factories; and permanent, immediate expensing for domestic research and development, reversing a 2022 rule that had forced companies to spread those deductions out over five years. According to the Tax Foundation, these provisions are giving manufacturers more tax relief than any other industry in the country, fueling new plant construction, equipment upgrades, and job creation nationwide.
