Rep. Miller-Meeks Statement on Votes to Secure Southern Border, Support U.S. National Security

WASHINGTON DC -- Congresswoman Mariannette Miller-Meeks (IA-01) released the following statement after voting to secure the southern border, advance U.S. national security interests in support of Israel, Ukraine, Taiwan, and counter the Chinese Communist Party’s influence:
“Today, I voted in favor of border security and U.S. national security by supporting our allies Israel, Taiwan, and Ukraine as they continue countering malevolent, anti-American forces.
“I urge the Senate and President Biden to take immediate action to pass H.R. 2 and secure the southern border to stop the flow of illegal immigration, people on terrorist watch list, and fentanyl. Border security is national security.
“History has also taught us that national security extends beyond our shores. Appeasement only emboldens our autocratic and communist adversaries in their aggressive globalist pursuits. The aid packages passed today will ensure that supporting our allies won’t deplete our military readiness and defense stock. We not only assisted our allies in Europe, the Middle East and Asia to protect and defend themselves, we also protected America and upheld American values of democracy, freedom, and human rights that define us as a nation.”
