Republicans on the Healthy Future Task Force on June 1 announced specific solutions to modernize the nation’s healthcare system.

U.S. Reps. Vern Buchanan (R-FL), Mariannette Miller-Meeks (R-IA), and Mike Kelly (R-PA) were joined by other task force members in releasing a three-pronged agenda that would expand access to innovative healthcare technologies, and utilize cutting-edge software that would reduce waste, fraud and abuse in the United States healthcare system.

Four members of the U.S. Congress recently got a close look at Washington’s Snake River dams.

The four members of the Congressional Western Caucus, which Rep. Dan Newhouse, R-Washington, chairs, watched fish travel through various passage routes on Tuesday at Ice Harbor Dam on the Snake River. A boat tour also led them through the lock system near the Tri-Cities.

Reps. Bruce Westerman, R-Arkansas; Cliff Bentz, R-Oregon; Matt Rosendale, R-Montana; and Mariannette Miller-Meeks, R-Iowa, joined the tour.

Representative Dan Newhouse (R-Wash.) led an energy field tour across Central Washington through the Western Caucus Foundation on the week of May 30. He outlined the energy portfolio offered by the region to members of the Congressional Western Caucus, Vice-Chair Bruce Westerman (R-Ark.), Representatives Mariannette Miller-Meeks (R-Iowa), Cliff Bentz (R-Ore.), and Matt Rosendale (R-Mont.). 

U.S. Reps. Mariannette Miller-Meeks (R-IA) and Ashley Hinson (R-IA) joined U.S. Sen. Joni Ernst (R-IA) and their Iowa Republican colleagues in urging the Biden administration to address two ongoing rulemaking processes that could end production of bio-oil, cellulosic sugar and biochar.

U.S. Rep. Buddy Carter (R-GA) led 15 of his GOP Doctors Caucus colleagues in advocating for Taiwan’s inclusion in the World Health Organization (WHO).

The members expressed “deep concern” with the WHO’s “continued marginalization of Taiwan’s participation in the WHO’s meetings, mechanisms and activities,” in a May 20 letter sent to WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus.
