Iowa Congressional Delegation Recognizes Basketball All-Star Caitlin Clark
WASHINGTON – U.S. Representatives Mariannette Miller-Meeks (IA-01), Ashley Hinson (IA-02), Zach Nunn (IA-03), Randy Feenstra (IA-04), and Senators Joni Ernst (R-Iowa) and Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa) introduced a bicameral resolution to recognize Caitlin Clark’s incredible achievements in women’s basketball.
“Caitlin Clark inspires us all,” said Miller-Meeks. “In February, Caitlin Clark officially became the Number 1 scorer in NCAA Division I women’s basketball history when she passed Lynette Woodard’s 3,649-point women’s college record, set from 1977-81 before the NCAA recognized the women’s sport. Over the weekend, Caitlin became the NCAA’s all-time scoring leader when she passed Pete Maravich’s career record of 3,667 points, which he set in 1970. I was honored to be able to attend the game and witness Caitlin’s out-of-this-world skills and team cohesion. I am proud that our delegation is recognizing our very own basketball phenom, and I cannot wait to see what records Caitlin will crush in the future.”

Caitlin Clark is a basketball star who has been named the Big Ten Player of the Year for three consecutive years.
Clark has led the University of Iowa’s women’s basketball team for their historic season and has averaged a Division I high 32.3 points and 8.7 assists per game. She became the first person in Big Ten history to make more than 500 career 3-pointers.
