Miller-Meeks Announces Health, Research, and Development Grants for Second District

WASHINGTON, D.C.—Today, June 15th, 2022, Rep. Mariannette Miller-Meeks (IA-02) announced that several federal grants have been awarded to organizations in Iowa’s Second Congressional District. These grants, awarded by the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), will give $300,000 to Pxalpha, LLC from Iowa City and over $6 million to The University of Iowa for various programs and departments.

“I am thrilled to see these HHS grants coming to Iowa City! These grants will do a lot of good to support research and development programs in the Second District,” said Miller-Meeks. “As a doctor who worked at the University of Iowa, I know firsthand the important work they conduct across multiple fields of medicine. As a healthcare professional, I look forward to continuing to work to support increased research and development in the Second District whenever I can.”

The HHS grants were appropriated in H.R. 2471, the Consolidated Appropriations Act of 2022, which was signed into law on March 15th, 2022.
