Miller-Meeks: This is the Largest Tax Refund Season EVER

April 14, 2026

IOWA – Congresswoman Mariannette Miller-Meeks (IA-01) is highlighting the impact of the Working Families Tax Cuts in a new op-ed, emphasizing how the legislation is delivering real relief to working and middle-class families across Iowa.

With Tax Day approaching, Miller-Meeks outlined how this year’s filing season is shaping up to be one of the most significant in American history, with larger refunds and increased take-home pay for millions of Americans.

“The Working Families Tax Cuts are putting more money back in the pockets of hardworking Iowans,” Miller-Meeks wrote. “From bigger refunds to larger paychecks, this is real relief for families who have been feeling the strain of rising costs.”

The op-ed highlights several key provisions of the law, including:

  • Increased standard deductions for the vast majority of taxpayers
  • Expanded Child Tax Credit for working families
  • Tax relief for seniors, including a new Social Security tax deduction
  • Reduced taxes on tips and overtime for millions of workers
  • New investment accounts to help children build financial security from birth

According to recent data, the average tax refund has increased significantly this year, with many families seeing meaningful financial relief during the filing season.

“As families file their taxes, they’re seeing the difference firsthand,” Miller-Meeks said. “This is about making sure Americans keep more of what they earn and have the flexibility to provide for their families.”

Miller-Meeks encouraged Iowans to ensure their returns are filed ahead of the April 15 deadline and to take full advantage of the tax relief available to them.
