Rep. Miller‑Meeks: Iowa Farmers Needed Year‑Round E15 Yesterday

January 22, 2026

WASHINGTON, D.C. — Today, Congresswoman Mariannette Miller‑Meeks (IA‑01) delivered remarks as she was waived onto the House Rules Committee ahead of consideration of legislation and discussion related to year‑round E15. In her emotional remarks, Miller‑Meeks highlighted the urgent need to move beyond study and deliver certainty for Iowa farmers and rural communities.

“After years of delay, we’re finally having the full E15 debate in Congress that should have happened long ago,” said Miller‑Meeks. “And I’m glad a new council is being formed to further study E15 and its impact on farmers and consumers.”

“But the reality is, Iowa farmers needed year‑round E15 yesterday,” Miller‑Meeks continued. “I’ve looked Iowa farmers in the eye as they tell me their family farms, their legacies, are at risk. Not because they’re failing, but because Washington keeps moving the goalposts.”

In her remarks, Miller‑Meeks underscored that year‑round E15 is not only a cleaner and more affordable fuel option for American families, but a critical market certainty for rural economies driven by agriculture. Iowa producers rely on predictable, stable markets for corn and ethanol, and access to E15 year‑round strengthens demand and economic opportunity throughout the Midwest.

“Year‑round E15 lowers fuel costs for millions of Americans and provides the certainty our farmers need to keep feeding and fueling the world,” said Miller‑Meeks. “If asked, I’d proudly serve on this new E15 council, but make no mistake: I won’t stop fighting until year‑round E15 is the law of the land, and our farmers have the certainty they need and deserve.”

Rep. Miller‑Meeks has long championed biofuels and energy policy that supports rural America, both during her time in the Iowa State Senate and in Congress. Her leadership reflects a commitment to meaningful solutions that boost rural economies, lower costs for consumers, and strengthen America’s energy future.
