Economy

Bidenomics was a complete failure. Under President Biden, inflation has rose by as much as 19.4%, the average household is shelling out $12,000 more a year for the same expenses they had in 2021, and real wages are down 3.9%. On top of this, gas prices remained at record highs around the country, homeownership is nearly impossible for young people, and rent is becoming more unaffordable by the month. Instead of trying to fix our economic woes, the Biden Administration decided to take it up a notch by declaring an all-out war on American energy.

On January 26th, 2024, the Biden Administration announced they were halting exports of Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG). This reckless decision would not only hurt our economy but would also hurt our allies, by forcing them to outsource to adversaries such as Russia, Iran, and Venezuela. The Biden Administration also depleted our Strategic Petroleum Reserve and refuses to refill it.

The Biden Administration's policies on energy production were short sighted and detrimental to American prosperity. By slashing back onshore drilling permits and lease offerings, they are undermining the very industry that has propelled the nation towards energy independence. Their disdain for fossil fuels not only jeopardizes thousands of jobs but also imperils the nation's energy security. That administration's actions prioritized ideological agendas over the well-being of hardworking Americans and the economic stability of the country.

In order to promote American Energy Independence, I:

  • I cosponsored H.R. 1, the Lower Energy Costs Act, which aims to end restrictions on energy production, promote domestic mineral production and streamline permitting processes. This bill passed the House with bipartisan support.
  • I led my colleagues in ensuring that hydraulic fracturing (fracking) cannot be banned in the United States; American energy should remain in American hands, and fracking produces affordable energy and strengthens our national security. This bill passed the House with bipartisan support.
  • I led efforts to allow the sale of E15 fuel in Iowa and around the nation.
  • I voted in favor of H.R. 7176, the Unlocking our Domestic LNG Potential Act of 2024. This bill repeals restrictions on the import and export of natural gas implemented by the Biden Administration. This bill passed the House with bipartisan support.
  • I introduced the Critical Infrastructure Manufacturing Feasibility Act, legislation that passed the House with bipartisan support and directs the Secretary of Commerce to conduct a study on the feasibility of manufacturing more goods in the United States, in particular, products that are key to our critical infrastructure sectors.
  • I introduced the Refrigerator Freedom Act, legislation that passed the House and limits the Department of Energy’s authority to implement ‘Green New Deal’ regulations on refrigerators.
  • I stood against the Biden Administrations egregious Electric Vehicle Mandate that would force Americans' to ditch their gas powered vehicles in favor of EV’s. Americans should have choice.
