Miller-Meeks Announces $1 Million for Tipton’s Montgomery Drive Project

February 13, 2026

TIPTON, IA – Congresswoman Mariannette Miller-Meeks today announced that $1 million in Community Project Funding she secured for the City of Tipton’s Montgomery Drive Project has officially been signed into law.

The funding will convert an existing one-lane gravel access road into a concrete residential street with curb and gutter, along with a parallel 10-foot pedestrian and bicycle trail. The new roadway, Montgomery Drive, will open up approximately 20 acres of undeveloped land for single-family housing development.

“This is exactly what Community Project Funding is meant to do, support locally driven solutions that strengthen our communities,” said Miller-Meeks. “Tipton leaders made it clear this project was critical to addressing housing needs and supporting future growth. I was proud to go to bat for it in Washington and deliver the funding to get it done.”

"The City of Tipton is proud to announce it has been awarded a $1 Million dollar Community Project Funding grant through the fiscal year 2026 congressional appropriations process, secured by Congresswoman Miller-Meeks. This funding will enable the City of Tipton to move forward with our Montgomery Drive project, which includes converting an existing one-lane gravel access road into a concrete, curb-and-gutter residential street with an accompanying parallel 10-foot-wide concrete pedestrian/bicycle trail. This will also be the start of an additional residential development site. We are incredibly grateful for Congresswoman Miller-Meeks' support in securing this funding. This grant is a significant investment in our community and allows us to move forward with new housing opportunities. New housing frees up existing homes, increasing the residential population. The grant also will provide an economic boost by providing construction jobs with dollars turning over locally." - Mayor Tammi Goerdt, Tipton Iowa
