Miller-Meeks Bill to Detect and Prevent Cancer Signed Into Law
WASHINGTON, D.C. — Today, legislation led by Dr. Mariannette Miller-Meeks (IA-01) that would help detect and prevent cancer was signed into law by President Trump as part of a historic spending package.
The Nancy Gardner Sewell Medicare Multi-Cancer Early Detection Screening Coverage Act establishes Medicare coverage for Multi-Cancer Early Detection (MCED) screening tests, ensuring seniors will soon have access to cutting-edge diagnostics that can identify multiple cancers from a single test.
“As a doctor, I’ve seen firsthand how early detection can change the trajectory of a patient’s life,” Said Miller-Meeks. “This legislation ensures seniors have access to cutting-edge screening technologies that can detect cancer earlier, improve outcomes, and reduce suffering for patients and their families. It’s a meaningful step forward in the fight against cancer and I'm so proud that it has now been signed into law by President Trump.”
