Earlier this week, Iowa celebrated the 175th anniversary of its statehood.

On December 28th, 1846, President James K. Polk signed the bill that made Iowa the 29th state. Since then, generations of Iowans have been blessed to call the land between the Missouri and Mississippi Rivers home.

Many people say “Iowa Nice” is just a saying. For Iowans, it is a way of life. It is a product of growing up in a beautiful place, surrounded by communities that all live by the Golden Rule. The people here are as genuine and steadfast as the land we stand on.

Wednesday on Fox News Channel’s “America’s Newsroom,” Rep. Mariannette Miller-Meeks (R-IA) slammed the Biden administration’s “differing responses and contradictions” when it comes to handling the coronavirus pandemic.

Miller-Meeks, a physician, said President Joe Biden’s apparent reversal on federal mandates “underscores another failure” of the administration.

President Joe Biden on Monday signed into law a sweeping defense authorization bill that includes nearly $770 billion in spending for fiscal year 2022 and includes the beginnings of a national memorial to the war on terrorism that is backed by Republican members of Iowa’s delegation.

The bill — which provides a 2.7 percent increase in military basic pay — also includes changes to how the military prosecutes certain crimes like sexual assault, although members of Iowa’s GOP delegation say it does not go far enough.

OTTUMWA — Rep. Mariannette Miller-Meeks (IA-02) announced the completion of her fourth 24-county tour, having now visited all 24 of the Second District’s counties at least four times since being sworn in on Jan. 3 of this year.

Miller-Meeks said via press release, “It has been an honor to visit cities and towns across the Second District. From Newton to Fort Madison and DeWitt to Leon, the Second District is full of amazing families, businesses, and communities, all proud to be in Iowa.
