U.S. Representative Mariannette Miller-Meeks recognized a local athlete for his exceptional fall season on the floor of the House of Representatives. Miller-Meeks honored Central College Quarterback Blaine Hawkins for the NCAA-record 63 touchdown passes in the 2021 season, most among all divisions. Hawkins, now a graduate, won the Gagliardi Trophy, an honor awarded to the nation’s top Division III player, for his efforts.

WASHINGTON, D.C.—Today, March 8th, 2022, Rep. Mariannette Miller-Meeks (IA-02) joined Reps. Brian Fitzpatrick (PA-01) and Josh Gottheimer (NJ-05) to introduce the Ban Russian Energy Imports Act. The bill will ban the United States from importing Russian crude oil, petroleum, petroleum products, liquefied natural gas (LNG), and coal.
Iowa’s congressional delegation is urging the Biden administration to expand the production and potential export of ethanol and biodiesel to meet global energy needs as the U.S. and its allies look to decrease reliance on Russian oil.
