Congresswoman and physician Mariannette Miller-Meeks (R) helped administer COVID-19 vaccines at Washington County Public Health Wednesday afternoon.
CORALVILLE, Iowa (KCRG) - Iowa’s 2nd District Congresswoman Mariannette Miller-Meeks is touring vaccine facilities in counties she represents to encourage people to get the COVID-19 vaccine.
Miller-Meeks is an opthalmologist and past director of the Iowa Department of Public Health. This comes as a new Des Monies Register/Mediacom poll shows there’s a political component when it comes to getting the vaccine.

Washington, DC – Representative Mikie Sherrill (NJ-11) and Representative Mariannette Miller-Meeks (IA-02) today introduced the bipartisan GI Bill NEED Act to protect veterans’ educational benefits from expiring due to institutional closures or other factors caused by the COVID-19 national emergency. This important legislation will allow the Department of Veterans Affairs to pause the time limit currently placed on the use of GI Bill benefits, and allow them to restart the clock after it is safe for veterans to return to school.

Miller-Meeks will serve on the Select Subcommittee in addition to her appointments on the Committees on Homeland Security, Education and Labor, and Veterans’ Affairs.
