The efforts of a local six-year-old caught the attention of her representative in the U.S. Congress.
Rep. Mariannette Miller-Meeks (R-Iowa) took to the floor of the House of Representatives to recognize Dempsey Wagner and her fundraising to help the Lee County Crimestoppers fund a rescue boat for the Lee County Sheriff's Office.
Miller-Meeks made her statement on Wednesday on the house floor.
Rep. Mariannette Miller-Meeks visited Keokuk County Public Health during the COVID vaccination clinic on Thursday, April 8 during her vaccine tour of Iowa’s Second Congressional District.
“There are different nuances as each county tries to do something that fits them with their county and their population to get as many people vaccinated as possible, we know that’s the way to get out of this pandemic and stop wearing masks so we can see each others faces and see each others smiles,” Rep. Miller-Meeks said.
Brandon Ketchum's family is grateful to Iowa's members of Congress, who have not forgotten the tragic way he died almost five years ago.
All four of Iowa's U.S. House members are supporting the "Sgt. Ketchum Rural Veterans’ Mental Health Act," which was discussed in a hearing Thursday.
